Cancellation Policy

1. Objectives and Background

These Terms and Conditions apply to all services provided by The Family Lawyer (Vic) and govern the relationship between the firm and its clients. By engaging our services or booking an appointment, you, as the client, agree to be bound by the terms outlined herein.

When an appointment is cancelled without adequate notice, it prevents another client from being served. These terms are designed to ensure clarity, fairness, and effective allocation of professional time.

2. Confidentiality

All client information, documentation, and communications shall be treated as confidential in accordance with the firm's professional and ethical obligations. This duty of confidentiality extends beyond the conclusion of the engagement and applies to all staff members and third-party contractors engaged by the firm. Exceptions apply where disclosure is required by law or made with the client's prior written consent.

3. Appointments and Cancelations

A fee of $330.00 (inclusive of GST) is payable in advance for all 30-minute consultations.

This consultation fee is non-refundable in the following circumstances:

• If the client fails to attend the scheduled appointment; or
• If the client cancels or reschedules the appointment with less than forty-eight (48) hours' notice.

Where a cancellation is made with at least forty-eight (48) hours' notice, the consultation fee will be fully refunded, or, upon request, applied to a rescheduled appointment.

Notice is considered given only upon confirmation of receipt by the firm.

3.1. Late Arrivals

Clients who arrive late to a scheduled appointment will only be seen for the remaining duration of the appointment. If the client arrives more than ten (10) minutes late, the appointment may be cancelled at the firm's discretion and treated as a non-attendance. In such circumstances, the consultation fee will be retained.
